The ZONE: New Year Hopes
On our first day back from the holiday break we asked our students what they hoped for in this new year. Some desires were modest (A new phone), some were ambitious (Infinite “Connect Four” victories), while others were selfless.
The ZONE: Bullying
Students at the ZONE were asked what they thought of bullying and how they could help to stop the growing epidemic. Many of their solutions incorporated some form of the Golden Rule, as well as notifying an adult.
The ZONE: Ways I Can Help My Community
With the Holidays fast approaching, students were asked to think of ways in which they can help the less fortunate. Their ideas ranged from a talent show, to a food drive, to selling caricatures on the street.
The ZONE: The American Dream
The “American Dream” discussion topic produced such awesome responses at Clairton, it was decided that students at The Zone would be asked what they thought of this national ethos as well.
The ZONE: The Humpty Dumpty Challenge
On our 4th and 5th meetings at University Preparatory Academy’s The ZONE, students were split into three groups, given access to netbooks, and tasked with reassembling various pop songs that had been spliced into twenty-five separate pieces.
