Pittsburgh Spring Hill K-5: Studio Visit
Students in Radio Club at Pittsburgh Spring Hill K-5 came to the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh to visit our studio and to tour the museum. While in the studio, they learned how a radio station works and made recordings about what they’ve learned. These pieces are a result of the fifth of six weekly sessions in which students are learning about the microphones, mixers and digital recorders used in producing features for radio.
Pittsburgh Langley K-8: Important Issues
Students in Citiparks’ After School Academy at Pittsburgh Langley K-8 wrote and recorded short stories about something that is important to them. They learned how to engineer these recordings and continue to hone their skills towards producing features for radio.
Pittsburgh King PreK-8: A Gift
Students in Citiparks’ After School Academy at Pittsburgh King PreK-8 went on a field trip to The Saturday Light Brigade broadcast studios, where they recorded these stories about an important gift they received.
Pittsburgh Schiller 6-8: Editing
Students in Radio Club at Pittsburgh Schiller 6-8 began learning how to edit the pieces collected during Radio Club last week. They worked in groups using netbook computers and editing their pieces to be 15-20 seconds in length. This work is a result of the fourth of six weekly sessions in which students will learn about the microphones, mixers and digital recorders used in producing features for radio.
