Pittsburgh Manchester PreK-8 – North Side Songs – My Favorite Things
Students in the 4th grade class at Pittsburgh Manchester PreK-8 spent a class learning about microphones and recording as part of the North Side Songs project. As an introductory activity they recorded these short personal bios containing a few of their favorite things.
New Years Hopes
Look for six new SLB StoryBoxes featuring the voices of sixty children expressing their hopes for 2011 at First Night Pittsburgh. Created in conjunction with The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and the Hear Me project, these StoryBoxes will be installed at the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Arts Education Center, 805/807 Liberty Avenue, Downtown from New Year’s Eve through late January.
Pittsburgh Manchester – “How To” Storybox
Listen and learn as Pittsburgh Manchester PreK-8 4th and 5th graders share their expertise, from how to form tackle too how to make hot wings! This project was made possible with generous support from The Buhl Foundation.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Storybox
Students in 6th through 8th grade at Pittsburgh Manchester Pre-K-8 took time to reflect on the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This StoryBox unit presents the resulting spoken essays about his life as well as through verbal interpretations of specific passages from Dr. King’s speeches.
