Students at the ZONE were asked what they thought of bullying and how they could help to stop the growing epidemic. Many of their solutions incorporated some form of the Golden Rule, as well as notifying an adult.
The ZONE: Ways I Can Help My Community
With the Holidays fast approaching, students were asked to think of ways in which they can help the less fortunate. Their ideas ranged from a talent show, to a food drive, to selling caricatures on the street.
The ZONE: The American Dream
The “American Dream” discussion topic produced such awesome responses at Clairton, it was decided that students at The Zone would be asked what they thought of this national ethos as well.
Clairton CASTLE: The American Dream & Editing
On our seventh meeting at Clairton’s CASTLE program students were asked to reflect on the “American Dream” and what it means to them. Then, 5th and 6th graders were given access to Mac Book Pros with which they attempted the Humpty Dumpty Challenge; after learning the basics of the audio editing software Adobe Audition, the students were tasked with reassembling various Disney songs that had been divided into 15 separate clips.
Pittsburgh Langley K-8: My School Radio Station
Students in Citiparks’ After School Academy at Pittsburgh Langley K-8 recorded these pieces in which they share what the name they would give their school radio station. These pieces are a result of the second of seven weekly sessions in which students are learning about the equipment and techniques used in producing features for radio.
