Students in Tween Scene at Carnegie Library – Woods Run, wrote and recorded these pieces where they describe themselves in many ways! These pieces are the result of the second of six weekly sessions in which students are learning about the equipment and techniques used in producing radio features.
Clairton CASTLE: Makey Makey
Students at Clairton CASTLE were introduced to the Makey Makey, an invention kit that turns everyday objects into touchpads for a computer. From becoming a human piano to playing Pong on oranges, students experimented with basic circuit-building.
The ZONE: Mad Libs 2
On May 7th, students at The ZONE wrote and recorded their second Mad Lib, this one about a curious dog. Their favorite exclamation: “OMG!”
Clairton CASTLE: Virtual DJing 101
Students at Clairton’s CASTLE program were introduced to the audio mixing software Virtual DJ Pro, with which they used to alter various songs ranging from The Lion King’s “Hakuna Mata” to Aretha Franklin’s “Respect.”
Pittsburgh Spring Hill K-5 Radio Club: Studio Visit
Students in Radio Club at Pittsburgh Spring Hill K-5 came to the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh to visit our studio and to tour the museum. While in the studio, they learned how a radio station works and made recordings about what they’ve learned as well as made some beats using only pencils and their hands!
