Girl Scouts of Western PA – The Wonders of Water Journey

In the Spring 2013, 2nd and 3rd grade girls in the Girl Scouts of Western Pennsylvania after school program at Pittsburgh King PreK-8 learned about the many properties and uses of water through a variety of hands-on activities, named The Wonders of Water Journey. The Saturday Light Brigade worked with the scouts to discuss and demonstrate what they had learned from their different activities.

Taylor Allderdice – Racism in Pittsburgh

On June 3rd, 2013, students at Taylor Allderdice High School attended their final recording session. The question posed this time, initially, was: “Is Pittsburgh Racist?” which then evolved into both more general questions concerning race relations beyond our city limits and the effect (if any) of President Barack Obama’s time in office.

Pittsburgh Allegheny 5th Graders: When I Grow Up

5th Grade Students attending the Radio Club at Pittsburgh Allegheny PreK-8 made these recordings on March 22nd. Having previously discussed a wide range of topics, students were asked the classic: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” The children answered, with conviction, that they wanted to be teachers, singers and professional nuns.

Pittsburgh Allegheny 5th Graders: A Time I Achieved Something

On March 8th, 2013, 5th graders at Pittsburgh Allegheny attended the Radio Club for the third time; and this time they were asked what they thought some of their best personal accomplishments were. As it turns out, this class is composed almost entirely of great test takers!
