Students at Clairton School District’s CASTLE program took a break from recording this week to experiment with a “vocoder,” a device that can alter a speaker’s voice. After taking turns with our wireless mic describing some of their brief, written stories, students then got a chance to play a makeshift game of “20 Questions.”

Happy 2015! And, with this brand spanking New Year, came a new session of CASTLE’s Radio Club. Students were asked what they hoped for in the New Year.

Students at Clairton’s CASTLE program were asked: “What would happen on your perfect day?” After writing and recording their responses, sound effects were then added to their finished audio.

With Christmas almost here, our Radio Club-ers were asked: What are your three absolute favorite things about the yuletide season? Some students couldn’t limit themselves to just three!

Students at Clairton CASTLE were asked to reflect upon their neighborhood or school. The first class did this through a structured round table discussion and a wireless microphone. The second, instead, were asked to draw how they wished their school or neighborhood looked, and then took turns recording their verbal descriptions of their finished drawings.
