As part of the afterschool Radio Club, students took part in a field trip with Sense of Place Learning to Wilkinsburg’s Garden Dreams Urban Farm to learn about urban farming and its importance in the community. While there, students toured the garden, planted vegetables, and even saw chickens!
Radio Club students recorded man-on-the-street style interviews for our imagined school radio station – WILK. Among those interviewed were fellow students and Bob, a knowledgeable member of the Garden Dreams staff. Listen below to hear why gardening is important and what we learned during our visit.
