“Exploring the road to a better Pittsburgh – Where we are and where we are going.”
21 students about to enter their first year of college created these eleven radio documentaries as part of their position as Summer Interns at The Heinz Endowments. Because the Summer 2009 internship program focused on environmental issues, students developed radio features covering a range of environmental issues. While SLB provided training and coaching, the documentaries presented here were entirely conceived and created by the students.
This series was produced at the studios of The Saturday Light Brigade and was created and made possible by The Heinz Endowments Youth Philanthropy Program.
Special thanks to Kara Drabick, Erin Drischler, Kaitlyn Kirby, Abby Robinson, Zeke Rediker, Michael Surh, Laura Cranville and Alexandra Zabierek (senior summer interns), Wayne Jones and Marge Petruska (The Heinz Endowments) and all summer intern host locations (United Way of Allegheny County, Sarah Heinz House, The Pittsburgh Foundation, Sustainable Pittsburgh).
